EcoAthletes Collegiate Cup: A University Fitness Challenge for Climate Action
Join the EcoAthletes Collegiate Cup! Compete for Cornell against 26 schools to log the most workout hours and remove the most carbon from our atmosphere! Track workouts (exercising (running, walking, cycling, swimming, gym workouts, rowing) on the Climate Games app from March 10 to April 22, Earth Day. Those workouts are then converted into an environmental currency which will be used to fund a coral restoration project, thus reducing the release of carbon into the atmosphere. The school that exercises the most in total over the six weeks of the competition wins the Cup!...

Crocheting Adventures with Hyperbolic Planes by Daina Taimina, PhD., associate professor, retired
Conceived and created as an aid for teaching her math students the properties of hyperbolic planes, Daina Taimina presents a colorful display of crocheted shapes, on display in the gallery of the Nevin Welcome Center. These artistically designed representations of hyperbolic planes provide a tactile connection between geometry, art, and nature. Taimina retired from teaching math at Cornell in 2015 but continues to teach mathematical concepts we all experience in our daily lives to a broader audience through her crochet artwork. Electronics Recycling Month
Hosted by R5 Operations every Wednesday in March: 3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 3/26 Recycle your home and office electronic waste sustainably (and for free) by bringing items to the Cornell Recycle Center (251 Solidago Rd) between 8:00am-3:00pm on Wednesdays throughout March. Accepted: CDs, computers, TVs, cameras, VCR/DVD players, microwaves, phones, cables, remote controls, extension cords, power strips, printers, monitors, fax/answering machines, pagers, typewriters, stereo/tape/record/8 track tape players, light bulbs, batteries, and anything with a cord!
